MKA partners with Bourne Consulting Engineering to restore the historic Granite Landings along The Esplanade
July, 2006: McGinley Kalsow & Associates is working with Bourne Consulting Engineering to rehabilitate the historic Granite Landings along the Esplanade of the Charles River Basin. The Esplanade and the Granite Landings were designed by the renowned landscape architect Arthur A. Shurcliff in 1933 and were constructed and dedicated in 1935. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation selected MKA to design a sensitive rehabilitation of their Granite Landings and Overlooks that extend along their most popular waterfront recreation area near the Hatch Memorial Shell, and includes Commissioner’s landing, Gloucester Street Landing Dartmouth Street Landings, and the Lagoon. Inspections and fieldwork began in July 2006 and preliminary plans for restoration of their significant historic features are now being developed. |
